FOLK/POP

For beginning students, folk music often serves as the introduction to performance. The melodies are often short, using simple rhythms and few notes, as well as having an elementary harmonic structure that is often both limited and repeated. Within these “limitations” it can be challenging to find music that is enjoyable for both the player and audience.

We think you will discover the arrangements of folk (and pop) music found here strike a balance between limiting the technical and reading requirements of beginning students while producing a very pleasing ensemble sound for the listener.
